Principal Mechanical Engineer - MachineryTitle: Principal Mechanical Engineer - MachineryKBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.Responsibilities:

• Responsible for design, specification, selection, and services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, packaged units, material handling, and solids processing systems.
• Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.
• Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
• Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
• Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations.Job Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field
  • Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and gas projects is preferred, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia, ethylene, refining, and offshore facilities.
  • Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a plus
  • Engineering contractor experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable with analysis of fluid/thermal systems
  • In-depth understanding of machine design and application
  • Familiarity with rotor dynamic principles and analysis
  • Ability to provide technical guidance for designers and drafters.
  • Working knowledge of current API standards for rotating equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, and auxiliary systems.
