Mechanical Engineer - MachineryKBR Sustainable Technology Solutions
(STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire
asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process
technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical
domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design
capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating
assets.Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design, specification, selection, and services
relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery,
packaged units, material handling, and solids processing
systems.
- Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of
the functional area subject matter.
- Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the
independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering
techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice
but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting
design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and
difficult coordination requirements.
- Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced
engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on
cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations.Job
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering
field
- Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or
willingness to obtain
- Experience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and
gas projects is preferred, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia,
ethylene, refining, and offshore facilities.
- Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a
plus
- Engineering contractor experience preferred
- Knowledgeable with analysis of fluid/thermal systems
- In-depth understanding of machine design and application
- Familiarity with rotor dynamic principles and analysis
- Ability to provide technical guidance for designers and
drafters.
- Working knowledge of current API standards for rotating
equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors,
and auxiliary systems.
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally a plusKBR
