Job SummaryCenterPoint Energy is looking for a Director of Fleet
Services to join our Corporate Services Teams, located in Houston,
TX. You will have the ability to: be responsible for providing
strategic leadership and direction for fleet operations across our
multi-state service territory. The Director of Fleet will oversee
maintenance and fleet acquisitions and dispositions, ensuring
efficient and effective management of the teams. A key focus will
be on implementing Lean Management principles to optimize
processes, reduce waste, and foster cooperative working
relationships across all company departments.Essential FunctionsTo
be successful in this role you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for fleet operations
across multiple states.
- Develop and implement a fleet road map, including strategies
for electric vehicles and equipment, vehicle safety, fleet
optimization, fleet operational activities, and the evolution of
transportation.
- Implement Lean Management principles to optimize processes and
reduce waste.
- Ensure efficient and effective management of fleet teams.
- Plan, procure, manage, and dispose of the company's fleet
(vehicles and equipment).
- Oversee maintenance and repairs, including service turnaround
time.
- Manage fueling programs.
- Utilize fleet management software to enhance operational
efficiency.
- Coordinate with 3rd party providers for fleet-related
services.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all
company departments.
- Monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics to drive
continuous improvement.
- Manage budget and financial planning for fleet operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and
environmental standards.
- Lead initiatives to enhance fleet sustainability and reduce
environmental impact.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous
improvement within the fleet team. Education DescriptionYour
background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics,
Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience will be
considered in lieu of a degree. Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in fleet management,
preferably within the utility industry, with at least 5 years in a
leadership role.
- Strong background in Lean Management principles and
practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-state
environment.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and tools.
- Commitment to safety, sustainability, and regulatory
compliance. Working Conditions
- Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency
Operation Plan (EOP).
- Able to work in an office environment.
