Job Summary
As the Seafood Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, you will be responsible for providing overall leadership to the seafood team. Your primary goal will be to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Customer Service: Hold ATLs, supervisors, and team members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Team Management: Make hiring and separation decisions in partnership with store leadership.
  • Sales and Profitability: Monitor and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  • Financial Planning: Project annual sales and expenses and prepare operating budgets.
  • Inventory Management: Manage ordering and inventory to achieve targeted contribution to profit margin.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with departmental and store leadership.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
  • Competitive Knowledge: Sustain an exceptional level of knowledge and awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends.
  • Store Execution: Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Team Culture: Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; respond promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Team Development: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  • Team Safety: Communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards.
  • Performance Evaluations: Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
  • WFM Vision: Consistently communicate and model WFM vision and goals.


    Requirements

    • Experience: 24+ months of retail experience, including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
    • Skills:

      • Sustain an exceptional level of knowledge and awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends.
      • Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
      • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize.
      • Food safety certification.
      • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
      • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.
      • Thorough product knowledge.
      • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
      • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
      • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
      • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.


      • Physical Requirements:

        • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
        • Ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
        • Ability to use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
        • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
        • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
        • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
        • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
