Job Description:

Our client is aggressively pursuing utilizing Cloud technologies to transform their IT landscape.  The Cloud Operations Analyst specializing in automation and orchestration will help transform application development and deployment, enabling application teams to quickly deliver against business needs.
 
Essential Responsibilities
•Team with operations staff and developers to maximize automation of critical infrastructure components ( monitoring, patching, Windows/Unix deployment and administration)
•Use tools such as Chef, Powershell, and ServiceMesh to enable and enhance Platform as a Service (PaaS) models within Oil and Gas
•Automate responses to issues in the environment, creating low-to-no touch rapid responses that maximize application uptime
•Work with corporate teams managing automation and orchestration tools to ensure Oil and Gas’s requirements are being met
•Maintain and apply current knowledge of information technology; keep abreast of new and emerging technologies; make technology, process, and application recommendations that can be used to lower costs, increase performance, and add value to the business
•Keep abreast of enabling technologies and work as a partner to promote their effective use
•Demonstrate an ongoing ability to work in a fast paced Agile environment and be able to present contributions in a group environment
 
Desired Characteristics
•Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
•Experience and understating of tiered architecture components and how they interact (web, app, DB, etc)
•Strong server virtualization background (VMWare, VDI)
•Understanding of AWS or other cloud provider components and when to utilize each
•Knowledge of development methodologies in one or more development language (Java, .net, PHP)
•Ability to break down large amounts of data into categories and drive projects based off the results
•Excellent track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and / or industry activities
•Ability to effectively communicate and work with a global team including other GE employees and contractors
•Six Sigma experience a plus
•Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
•Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint
•Strong analytical skills – strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
•Change oriented – actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways
