Job Summary:As a Seafood Associate Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our seafood department. You will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will also lead and develop Team Members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product merchandising strategies to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Work closely with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, and to analyze sales reports and labor data to inform business decisions.
  • Assist the Team Leader in annual sales and expense projections and budget preparation, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support the Team Leader in ordering and inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Resolve team concerns and issues promptly, maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Act as the point person and departmental leader in the absence of the Team Leader, ensuring seamless operations and customer service.
  • Set and achieve high standards of retail execution, fostering a culture of excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.Requirements:
    • High energy and enthusiasm, with an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
    • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
    • Growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership, with a desire to coach and mentor others for growth.
    • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
    • Ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner, with thorough product knowledge and understanding of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
    • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
    • 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
      • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
      • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
      • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
      • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
      • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
      • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
      • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
      • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
