beyond.Where you will work: This position will be based out of
Astound's Houston, TX office.A Day in the Life of the Construction
Locator:
- Determines placement and location of underground and aerial
cable (coax), fiber and copper (twisted) pair plant for the purpose
of avoiding cable damage from other construction.
- Locates these cables/lines and marks them accordingly.
- Responds to emergency locates as required or directed. Must be
available for weekend and night responses.
- Works closely with other utility companies, contractors, and
locating services.
- Ensures integrity of existing network routes by identifying
discrepancies between existing plant location and existing
documentation for that plant.
- Ensures integrity of network by identifying re-route issues and
documenting findings and issues involved.
- Filters all field locate requests that come through the locate
request system to identify which locates need to be physically
located in the field.
- Drives a company vehicle in the course and scope of performing
duties.
- Other duties as assigned.What You Bring to the Table:
- Experience: Two years prior experience in locating and the use
of locating devices and construction work experience preferred
- Basic understanding of network design and mapping
- Basic understanding of cable (coax), fiber and copper (twisted)
pair
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record per
Fleet policyPhysical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Standing and walking for extended periods of timeEducation and
Certifications:
